I spent 15 years moving organizations off spreadsheets.
Then I met a profession still running on them.

I am not an immigration consultant. I want to say that plainly, because it shapes everything about how Immicase was built.

For fifteen years my job has been digital transformation: I sit between the people who do the work and the systems meant to support them, and I move organizations out of spreadsheets and shared drives into structured, governed platforms. I have done that at TransLink, BC Pension Corporation, UBC, BC Transit, the BC Liquor Distribution Branch, Western Forest Products, Canfor and Lululemon — Crown corporations, public agencies and regulated enterprises where getting the data wrong has consequences.

Along the way I picked up an MBA, a CPIM, a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, PROSCI change-management training and a Government of Canada Reliability security clearance. None of that is immigration law. All of it is about the same problem: how do you take work that lives in one person's head and a folder of files, and make it something an organization can actually run on?

The conversation that started it

A few people I know work as immigration consultants. Helping them with what I assumed would be a small technology problem, I found something I did not expect: an entire regulated profession, handling passports, medical records and family histories, running on spreadsheets, shared drives and personal inboxes.

I had spent my career helping Crown corporations protect their data. Here were professionals under real regulatory obligations, holding some of the most sensitive personal information anyone holds, with no purpose-built option. The tools that existed were built for litigation, or for sales pipelines, or for another country's immigration system entirely. Nothing was built for an RCIC working Canadian files.

It was supposed to help a few people

So I built something for them. Case records that matched IRCC milestones instead of generic project stages. Document checklists that appeared by stream. Deadlines the system tracked so nobody had to remember a biometrics window.

Then they started asking for things I had not thought of, and telling colleagues, and the colleagues asked too. At some point it stopped being a tool for a few people I knew and became something I could not hide from the rest of the profession. So I decided to build it properly and offer it to every immigration professional in Canada.

What I bring, and what I do not

I do not give immigration advice and Immicase does not either — that is your professional judgment, and the platform is built to stay out of its way. What I bring is the other half: fifteen years of knowing how regulated organizations lose files, how migrations fail, why permissions matter to an auditor, and what makes people actually adopt a new system instead of quietly keeping their spreadsheet.
